Six BPM Between Shapes and the Angel

Start with what's known: 8:05 PM, a deep house record drops into an empty room. End with what's known: 9:21 PM, a farewell from the booth. Between those two timestamps, fifteen tracks passed through the signal. Most of their names are gone now — scattered across the Timelog like receipts from a night you half-remember. But the fragments that remain tell you enough.

Eight forty-six. Halfway. The groove already locked in place — Sebbe's Home queued behind whatever was playing, then Somersault's Boa, then Demarkus Lewis at one twenty-two BPM. Six records announced in sequence, described as one continuous arc. No breaks. No resets. The consistency itself becomes the event. Miami at dusk in July means the heat hasn't broken yet, means the light is finally going amber outside studio windows, means Los Angeles is still in afternoon and New York is already thinking about tomorrow. All three cities riding a single thread of bass.

Then the closing block. DP-6's Shapes — one twenty-two BPM, December 2017 deep house — and right after, Javier Orduna's El Angel Exterminador, the dubspeeka Remix. One twenty-eight BPM. Peak-time techno. That six-BPM jump is the only real rupture in the entire session. Seventy-six minutes of patient, locked groove, and then the floor tilts forward in the final minutes. The angel exterminador doesn't arrive gently. It arrives because everything before it was so steady that any escalation feels seismic.

Fifteen tracks. Philipp Gonzales somewhere in there. Andromo. S.D.J. Names surfacing and disappearing like faces in a crowd you passed through once. The gaps between them — the transitions nobody recorded, the moments where one record breathed into the next — carried everything. DJ Gunther built an hour from patience, then ended it with a six-beat-per-minute act of violence.
