Eighty-Seven Degrees and the Windows Won't Close

16 de June de 2026 5:00 PM – 8:04 PM 10 tracks

The AC unit rattled against the window frame but I left it. Something about that overcast heat — eighty-seven degrees pressed against the glass like a second skin — made the room feel like it deserved the weight. Luke Alexander's 'Last Night' came through at five sharp. Not a wake-up call. More like the city catching its breath between the workday and whatever comes after. Outside, Biscayne looked silver under low clouds. No sun, just a thick pale glare that made everything flatten out.

By the time Felix Da Housecat and Benny Benassi dropped 'Chicago Baby,' I'd moved to the kitchen counter. The humidity had that quality where you feel the air on your forearms. Adrian Izquierdo's 'Maryolan' pushed something sideways — not darker, just less certain, like the session was deciding what it wanted to become. Then Gianni Firmaio's 'Housey Back' locked the groove in place around quarter to six, and I realized I'd been standing there for forty minutes without checking my phone once.

The six o'clock stretch hit different. Armin van Buuren and Argy on 'Like A Child' — that one caught the humidity and held it. Space Motion's rework of 'Pjanoo' wasn't nostalgia; it was architecture. The room had changed. The light outside was going from flat gray to something heavier, almost amber behind the clouds. ARTBAT's 'Galaxy' at ten to seven felt like the hinge of the whole thing — the moment the evening admitted it wasn't afternoon anymore.

From there the session leaned into its own gravity. WhoMadeWho's 'Flying Away With You' through the Andhim remix carried that warm drone underneath, and by the time Nick Curly's 'Underground' surfaced, I was on the balcony, the air still thick, traffic noise from below blending into the low end. Khainz and Zenon closed it with 'Maybe' — tentative, deliberate — and then DJ Gunther's voice slid in at 8:04, announcing one-twenty BPM and six tracks ahead. The night was starting. I'd been inside the transition without noticing.
